Job summary

ONCORE Construction Consulting Group seeks an Accounting Manager to lead a team of 4 and own the financial engine supporting 60 employees, active plants, and heavy equipment fleets in the DMV region.

You will report to the owner in Temple Hills, MD and serve as the senior finance voice, turning job costs, cash flow, and compliance into strategic growth with a clear path toward senior leadership as the company expands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 7+ years progressive accounting experience including 3+ years in leadership.
• Strong background in construction, heavy materials, logistics, or related field operations preferred.
• Advanced Excel and proficiency with QuickBooks or similar ERP systems; GAAP payroll, AP/AR, and sales-tax filings.
• Ability to translate complex numbers into actionable insights for operators and owners.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close by the 10th with high accuracy and deliver job-cost and fleet analytics.
• Establish and refine job costing for on-site crushing, screening, hauling, and disposal operations.
• Build rolling 13-week cash-flow forecasts to fund seasonal needs and expansion.
• Reduce DSO by optimizing credit terms and managing AR/AP for 50+ vendors.
• Lead annual audits and tax readiness while maintaining compliance year-round.
• Coach and scale a direct team of 4 accounting professionals.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing updated job-cost software platforms.

They are seeking a high-ownership Accounting Manager to lead a team of 4 and own the financial engine driving 60 employees, active plants, and heavy equipment fleets. Reporting directly to the owner in Temple Hills, MD, you will serve as the senior finance voice, turning accurate job costs, cash flow, and compliance into strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Objectives

• Monthly Close & Reporting: Lead the monthly close process by the 10th of each month with high accuracy; deliver job-cost and fleet analytics that drive real equipment purchasing and job bidding decisions
• Job Costing Excellence: Establish and refine job costing for on-site crushing, screening, hauling, and disposal operations to ensure real margin visibility.
• Cash Flow & Forecasting: Build rolling 13-week cash-flow forecasts to fund seasonal inventory, equipment moves, and expansion without surprises
• AR/AP & Collections Management: Reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) by optimizing credit terms, tightening collections, and handling processing for 50+ key vendors and contractors.
• Audit & Tax Readiness: Lead annual reviews and tax package prep while maintaining audit readiness and compliance year-round.
• Team Leadership: Coach, mentor, and scale a direct team of 4 accounting professionals.
• Systems Upgrades: Leverage QuickBooks and Excel while helping evaluate and implement updated job-cost software platforms.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Industry Focus: Strong background in construction, heavy materials, logistics, or related field operations strongly preferred.
• Technical Mastery: Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling) and proficiency in QuickBooks or similar ERP systems. Solid knowledge of GAAP, payroll, AP/AR, and sales-tax filings.
• Communication: Ability to translate complex numbers into plain, actionable language for operators and business owners alike.
