About the role

A growing consumer packaged goods (CPG) company in the food and beverage industry is hiring an Accounting Operations Manager with hands‑on experience managing retailer deductions, trade promotion claims, and chargebacks. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, you’ll lead a team of five accounts receivable specialists and oversee a high‑volume receivables portfolio supporting North American operations.

You’ll own the deductions process from investigation through resolution. That includes validating claims against agreed promotion terms, disputing unsupported charges, and working with Sales and Operations to prevent recurring deductions.

What you’ll do

• Oversee retailer deductions, including promotional billbacks, shortages, chargebacks, and compliance claims. Track disputes and recoveries through resolution.
• Analyze deduction trends, identify recurring issues, and work with Sales and Operations to address their root causes.
• Manage collections, receivables aging, cash application, and customer account reconciliations. Set priorities for overdue balances and complex accounts.
• Coach and develop the AR team, set performance expectations, and step in on escalated claims and account issues.
• Strengthen order‑to‑cash controls and reporting, improve workflows, and support month‑end close through reconciliations, accruals, and reserve estimates.

What you’ll bring

• At least five years of accounting or finance experience, with substantial responsibility for accounts receivable.
• Direct experience investigating retailer deductions, validating trade promotion claims, and resolving or recovering disputed amounts.
• Experience leading and developing a team.
• Strong Excel skills, experience with ERP systems, and the ability to reconcile high volumes of customer transactions.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Experience in CPG, particularly food and beverage, is strongly preferred. Familiarity with trade promotion management software, retailer portals, or electronic data interchange (EDI) is a plus.
