Job Title: Accounting ManagerDepartment: Finance & AccountingReports To: Director of FinanceLocation: HybridPosition SummaryThe Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, and effective cost control across multiple construction projects. This role manages the accounting team, supports project teams with financial insights, and plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingOversee general ledger, month-end and year-end close processesPrepare and review monthly financial statements and variance analysisOwn WIP and job costing, including reviewing project margins and financial performanceConstruction revenue recognitionConsolidate monthly financials for multi entity structureMaintain balance sheet reconciliations and support schedulesHost monthly operational finance meetings with stakeholdersAssist with annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projectionsCompliance & ControlsEnsure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulationsSupport internal and external audits; coordinate with auditors and tax advisorsMaintain and improve internal controls and accounting proceduresAccounts Payable OversightSupervise AP functions, including approval workflow and credit card processingLeadership & Process ImprovementLead corporate accounting and accounts payable teamManage, mentor, and develop accounting staffDrive process improvements, system enhancements, and automationCollaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Project Management, and Executive LeadershipSupport ERP/accounting system implementation or optimizationQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory roleConstruction or utility construction industry experience strongly preferred; including WIP accounting, job costing, and construction financial reportingTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and WIPAdvanced proficiency in ExcelSolid understanding of GAAP and financial controlsSoft SkillsStrong leadership and communication skillsDetail-oriented with excellent organizational abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environmentCollaborative, proactive problem solver
