Overview

Kozol Bros. Inc. is seeking an experienced and versatile Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for accounting and finance activities including reconciliations, account analysis, cash management, and process improvement opportunities that align with the company's strategy.

This position requires someone who is highly organized, can manage multiple priorities, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accounting processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with the company's strategic goals. The salary range is $90-120K based on experience. Full time in-person position M-F. Benefits include Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401k with match, and PTO.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare/Review journal entries for all accounting-related activities (AR, AP, cash, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, prepaids, intercompany, month-end accruals, etc.)
• Ensure proper internal controls are in place and adhered to for all financial transactions
• Communicate with other functional areas regarding month-end close timing and results
• Partner with company management on cash management activities
• Lead merchandise inventory reconciliations and valuations
• Analyze and monitor customer and vendor account balances
• Weekly payroll processing
• Identify opportunities for improvement in accounting processes and suggest efficiencies for activities including accounts payable, transaction processing, and client financing
• Manage processes for tracking and obtaining vendor merchandise credits
• Audit client and vendor transactions for compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
• Support external auditors during the annual financial audits and assist in the implementation of recommendations
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team and with cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Proven 5-10 years of accounting experience in a private company or family-owned business is preferred but not required
• Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel skills, general ledger/accounts payable ERP modules.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and lead accounting staff
• Must always reflect professionalism, honesty, and integrity
• Strong work ethic with attention to detail and good judgement
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
