Job summary

Fuscoe Engineering, Inc. in Irvine, CA seeks an Accounting Manager to lead daily financial operations, close processes, GAAP compliance, and audit coordination; you will oversee payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, and reporting with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 7–10 years progressive accounting experience with 3+ years in supervisory/managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and annual financial audits.
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system proficiency.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations: general ledger, payroll, AP, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses per GAAP.
• Oversee fixed assets, prepaid expenses, credit card program, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Supervise and develop accounting team, ensuring quality and deadlines.
• Coordinate payroll and AP processing with HR and other departments.
• Coordinate annual financial statement, ESOP, and 401(k) audits with auditors.
• Maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risk.
• Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, project accounting on revenue recognition and WIP.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, automation, and use of Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Support acquisitions, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic projects.

What You’ll Do as an Accounting Manager:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.

• Oversee fixed assets, prepaid expenses, the company credit card program, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Supervise and develop accounting team members, ensuring work quality, accountability, cross-training, and timely completion of deadlines.
• Oversee payroll and accounts payable processing in coordination with HR and other departments.
• Coordinate annual financial statement, ESOP, and 401(k) audits, including compliance reporting and auditor requests.
• Maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, project accounting, and other stakeholders on financial reporting, revenue recognition, and WIP.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, automation, and utilization of Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Support acquisition integration, organizational growth, and the Controller and CFO with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and special projects.

What We’re Looking For (Required):

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and annual financial audits.
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system proficiency.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred):

• CPA designation.
• Experience in architecture, engineering, or professional services.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project-based accounting systems.
• Knowledge of WIP, revenue recognition, ESOP accounting, and acquisition integration.
