LHH is partnering with a rapidly growing organization in Detroit to hire an experienced Accounting Manager who will lead technical accounting initiatives, oversee complex matters, and help develop scalable financial processes.

You will drive U.S. GAAP interpretation, policy development, and cross‑functional collaboration with FP&A and operations, while mentoring the accounting team and supporting external audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA required; active license preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a foundation in public accounting.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge to research, interpret, and apply complex guidance.
  • Ability to assess financial impact of operational and strategic decisions.
  • ERP systems proficiency and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP across transactions.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Evaluate accounting implications of new programs and activities.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums and supporting analyses.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and reconciliations.
  • Support external audits with schedules and inquiries.
  • Design internal controls and scalable processes for growth and compliance.
  • Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, modeling, and variance analysis.
  • Mentor accounting team and foster accountability and continuous improvement.

LHH partnering with a rapidly growing organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead technical accounting initiatives, oversee complex accounting matters, and support the development of scalable financial processes. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven ability to navigate a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the assessment, interpretation, and application of U.S. GAAP across a variety of business transactions and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Evaluate the accounting implications of new programs, agreements, and business activities.
  • Research and document complex accounting matters, including preparing technical accounting memorandums and supporting analyses.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes, reconciliations, estimates, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Support external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and providing technical accounting support.
  • Design and implement effective internal controls and scalable accounting processes to support organizational growth and compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve operational efficiency through technology and automation.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications

  • CPA required; active license preferred.

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems
  • Prior experience within manufacturing, automotive, industrial, mobility, consumer products, or other complex operating environments is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience with responsibility for team development, coaching, and performance management
