Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking an Accounting Manager in Chicago, IL to oversee accounting operations, month-end close, and audit coordination within a lean manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, 7+ years in manufacturing accounting with at least 3 years in public accounting, and CPA is preferred. SAP or other ERP experience is a plus, and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 7+ years progressive accounting experience in manufacturing.
• 3+ years in public accounting, preferably audit.
• CPA designation preferred; ERP experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Produce monthly financial statements and management reports; analyze variances.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and accuracy of financial records.
• Manage annual external audit process including preparation of schedules and deliverables.
• Continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Support inventory, fixed asset, accrual, and other accounting functions.
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc finance tasks.

Accounting Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 7 years progressive accounting experience in manufacturing
• At least 3 years experience in public accounting, preferably audit
• Strong expertise in financial reporting and month-end close processes
• CPA designation preferred
• Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred
