Job summary

RFG Advisory in Birmingham, AL, is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the day-to-day accounting function, oversee the close cycles, and deliver audit-ready financial reporting. The role requires deep GAAP expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and a hands-on leadership style in a hybrid work environment.

You will optimize Sage Intacct, support internal and external audits, strengthen internal controls, and partner across finance and operations to drive data integrity and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Experience managing accounts payable end-to-end.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits.
• Background in financial services or professional services preferred.
• Experience overseeing accounts receivable and full-cycle accounting a plus.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights for leadership.
• Oversee accounts payable processing, coding, and payment runs.
• Enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
• Support audits with documentation and schedules.
• Drive process improvements and SOP documentation.
• Ongoing optimization of Sage Intacct configurations.

This role owns the day-to-day accounting function, leads close cycles and financial reporting, and drives process improvements that strengthen how the entire finance operation runs.
