Job summary

Tallgrass is seeking an Accounting & Financial Reporting internship in Lakewood, CO for Summer 2027. You will gain exposure to a variety of accounting roles, including operational accounting, financial reporting, and corporate accounting, while supporting the team with real-world projects.

The program emphasizes mentorship, industry exposure, and the potential path to an accounting position after graduation. In-person/hybrid work at our Lakewood office for 10 weeks, May–August.

Qualifications

• Proficiency level in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Passion for innovation and problem-solving, and a continuous drive to improve processes.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Assist in the preparation of periodic internal forecasts.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure accuracy in regulatory reporting and third-party transactions.
• Learn how to perform transaction research and document explanations.
• Prepare financial statements and related footnotes.
• Document formal tie outs of financial statements.
• Develop an understanding of the month-end close process from multiple perspectives within the accounting department.
• Assist with ad-hoc reporting requests for internal departments and external audit.
• Other duties as assigned.
