Job summary

The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. in New York is seeking a Bookkeeping/Accounting Manager. You will manage day-to-day financial activities, including reconciliations, invoicing, and AP/AR, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP.

You will support audits and tax return preparations, prepare ad hoc reports, and collaborate across departments with attention to detail and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration required.
• At least 2 years of corporate accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of financial systems.
• US GAAP knowledge required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
• German language skills are a plus.
• Sales and Use Tax knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial transactions, account reconciliations, invoicing, AP/AR, and collections.
• Perform monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure US GAAP compliance.
• Assist treasurer with audits, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Assist treasurer in preparing annual tax returns with external consultants.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and assist in problem-solving.
• Work independently to meet deadlines and collaborate with other departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
