Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking an experienced Accounting & Financial Analyst to support defense programs in the Detection business unit. You will partner with program managers, engineering teams, and leadership to provide budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, cost analysis, reporting, and performance insights.

This role requires a strategic finance partner who can develop models, monitor budgets, and ensure compliance with internal controls and government contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, FP&A, or related roles.
• Advanced Excel skills for modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.
• US Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and other month-end close activities for accurate reporting.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with strong internal controls.
• Assist with financial reporting and ensure data integrity across systems.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and government contract requirements.
• Develop financial models, forecasts, budgets, and scenario analyses.
• Monitor program budgets, actuals, forecasts, and funding utilization across portfolios.
• Analyze labor, material, and project costs to identify trends and opportunities.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial dashboards and performance metrics.
• Support annual operating plan, forecasting, and long-range planning.
• Partner with program managers, engineering, and leadership for decision support.
• Collaborate with accounting, contracts, and operations to improve processes.

This highly visible role serves as a key financial partner to program managers, engineering teams, and business leadership by providing budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, cost analysis, reporting, and project performance insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and other month‑end close activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial close processes while maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

• Assist with financial reporting, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

• Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to corporate financial policies, U.S. GAAP, and government contract requirements.

• Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, budgets, and scenario analyses to support business objectives and strategic decision‑making.

• Monitor program budgets, actuals, forecasts, and funding utilization across contract and Internal Research & Development (IRAD) portfolios.

• Analyze labor, material, and project costs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial performance.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for business leaders.

• Support annual operating plan (AOP), forecasting, and long‑range planning processes.

• Partner with program managers, engineering teams, and business leaders to provide financial analysis and decision support.

• Collaborate with accounting, operations, contracts, and other stakeholders to support program execution, reporting, and process improvements.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, FP&A, program finance, project finance, cost accounting, project accounting, or related finance roles.

• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, scenario analysis, and variance analysis.

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.

• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a cross‑functional environment.

• U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
