Job summary

Snap-on Tools in Elkmont, Alabama, is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to support the finance department. The role involves posting journal entries, reconciling ledgers, and preparing management reports for timely closing.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with 3+ years of related experience or an Associate/Bachelor’s degree in accounting, plus strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge. This is a full-time on-site position at our manufacturing plant.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 3+ years of directly related experience or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close procedures and financial control environment.
  • Aptitude to understand and improve business processes and effectively communicate with personnel throughout the company.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and highly proficient in Excel; familiarity with Hyperion/Tableau desired.

Responsibilities

  • Post general accounting transactions, including journal entries, with emphasis on documentation and accuracy.
  • Reconcile and analyze assigned ledger accounts.
  • Compile audit deliverables and support internal/external requests.
  • Generate, prepare, and distribute management reports; create new reporting as needed.
  • Support closing deadlines and maintain GAAP-compliant controls.

Job Summary

We presently have a full-time position available at our Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing plant for an Accounting Coordinator. This position will be responsible for providing accounting support within the Snap-on Tools finance department. The position includes assisting departmental management in daily tasks; processing monthly journal entries; timely completion of account reconciliations; ensuring timely closing and data integrity of plant financial records; and adhering to all Snap-on accounting policies. This position is a Monday through Friday work schedule and is on-site five days per week (hours to be determined) and will be reporting to the plant controller.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks

  • Perform general accounting transactions, including posting journal entries, with an emphasis on documentation, completeness, accuracy and overall understanding
  • Reconcile and analyze assigned ledger accounts
  • Compile audit deliverables, supporting both internal and external audit requests
  • Generate, prepare, analyze and distribute various management reports; create new reporting to support ongoing business needs or changes
  • Complete any reporting and closing responsibilities within the deadlines required by management
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Company guidelines
  • Work with department to drive improvement utilizing RCI theories and processes, including cost saving measures and continual review of functions to suggest and initiate ongoing change
  • Understand key business processes, technologies and strategies
  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned
Requirements

  • Aptitude to understand and improve upon business processes and to effectively communicate and interact with personnel throughout the company
  • Ability to handle numerous tasks and projects simultaneously, with flexibility, accuracy and the initiative and time management skills to drive through to completion
  • Must be able to work independently and within a diverse team, adapting to changing business demands and working to understand linkages in business processes and applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; must have high degree of proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Hyperion, SSA Ln and/or Tableau (or similar applications) preferred
