Job summary

Mass Bay Credit Union in Boston seeks an Accounting Clerk to support daily bookkeeping under the supervision of the Assistant Controller and CFO. You will process, post, reconcile, and balance transactions with strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities include preparing trial balances, generating reports, maintaining ledgers, coordinating with Operations on chargebacks, and handling Fed Wire input and Fed Reserve reports. Proficiency in Excel and GAAP knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates' Degree in Accounting preferred, or combination of education and accounting experience.
• Three years of work experience in a similar position and industry or related field.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements for financial compliance.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret detailed financial reports and regulatory documents.
• Proficiency with Excel and ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets.
• Proficient with PCs and various software applications used in accounting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain financial, statistical, and accounting records in accordance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Analyze, verify, post, and balance accounting information to the General Ledger.
• Prepare daily trial balance and generate reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Enter data in the accounting system and prepare periodic financial and regulatory reports.
• Coordinate with Operations on charge backs, returns, and adjustments.
• Handle ATM cash and reconciliation and related activities.
• Prepare Fed Reserve reports and input wires via Fed Wire System.
• Liaise with financial institutions to resolve discrepancies and research stop payments and NSF items.
