The Arc Of The Ozarks is seeking an Accounting Clerk II in Springfield, MO. You will join a mission-driven, fast-paced finance team, handling core accounting duties, reconciliations, and billing activities to support individuals with disabilities in our community.

Qualifications

  • Two years bookkeeping or accounting experience required.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and non-profit finance.
  • Ability to prepare reports and analyze data.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with PCs; accounting software experience preferred.

What do I need to be successful in this position?

Definition

In this position an individual will perform accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions and budgetary controls for assigned funds and Arc departments. This position will review and reconcile ISL and Group Home accounting records ; to review, and assist in billing issues, submit billing to the proper funding sources, prepare checks for vendor payments and record in the financial system.

The Accounting II Clerk will assist in the preparation of financial report statements and analyses pertaining to ISL budgets, budget issues, billings issues, accounts payable issues and any other relevant data.

  • Represents The Arc of the Ozarks when communicating with multiple outside vendors, providers, and state agencies
Essential Job Tasks
  • Acts as backup for Accounting Clerks, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll
  • Prepares work papers, financials statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
  • Participates in the balancing and reconciliation of the general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
  • Reconciles / audits client checking accounts and home accounts to assure compliance with Arc policy and procedures.
  • Follow-up on issues/errors as needed to resolve or correct.
  • Submit billing information to the appropriate funding agencies.
  • Prepares checks for vendor payments and reports appropriately in the financial system.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
  • Manages HUD reporting and compliance requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices
  • Knowledge of non-profit financial administration, including budgeting, reporting and revenues.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing fiscal recordkeeping
  • Ability to examine and verify financial documents and reports.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports, and analyses.
  • Ability to express ideas effectively, verbally and in written form.
Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications
  • Two years Bookkeeping/Accounting experience required.
  • Working knowledge of PC, Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in accounting software preferred
