Additional Information About the Role

BJH is hiring for an Accounting Clerk. This is an onsite position. Must be local to the metro St. Louis area. Must have strong excel skills. Cash handling experience preferred.


Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff includes full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by residents, interns, fellows, and other medical professionals. Recognized for nursing excellence, it was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Department of Food and Nutrition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital manages Patient, Retail, and Catering Service areas across both campuses, including patient meals, Clinical Nutrition Services, Queeny Tower Restaurant, three Cafeterias, and three Coffee Bars. The department aims to serve patients, visitors, and employees with excellent customer service, providing nutritional support during hospital stays to aid recovery. Opportunities range from entry-level to licensed or certified management positions.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Perform accounting activities for the Food & Nutrition Department, including retail sales and cash reporting, journal entry preparation, food and supply cost transfers, invoice verification and processing, and inventory valuation.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare general ledger journal entries and cost transfers.
  2. Post, audit, and report retail operations.
  3. Maintain and update the inventory database and prepare inventory usage reports.
  4. Process approved vendor invoices for payment, including cost center and expense category information.
