Job summary

Upstate Veterinary Specialties is hiring an Accounting Assistant to maintain accurate financial records, post journal entries, and assist with payroll and month-end close. You will support accounts payable/receivable, prepare payroll files, and help with financial reporting and tax filings.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of accounting experience, a finance/accounting degree or equivalent, and strong Excel and confidentiality skills.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of accounting or related financial experience.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Finance/Accounting preferred; equivalent education and experience considered.
• Proficiency with Excel and ability to learn new accounting systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and spreadsheets for UVS and related entities.
• Post and adjust journal entries; reconcile financial transactions.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end activities.
• Prepare payroll files, cost allocations by department and doctor, and month-end close.
• Assist with financial reports, tax filings, and process improvements.
