Job summary

Service Metal in Maryland Heights, MO is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, billing, and vendor payments for a growing nationwide distributor. This onsite role offers hands-on experience in a collaborative accounting team and room to grow as responsibilities expand over time.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, AP or AR experience, strong Excel and Office skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, AP, or AR experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree a plus.
• Comfortable in Excel and Microsoft Office; ERP/accounting software experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process customer payments, reconcile accounts, and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Prepare and process customer invoices.
• Monitor Accounts Receivable aging and support collections.
• Process vendor invoices and prepare payment batches (ACH, check runs, electronic payments).
• Reconcile vendor statements and maintain vendor records.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, and Purchasing to resolve accounting issues.
• Support audits, compliance documentation, and recordkeeping.
• Cross-train across accounting functions as part of ongoing development.
