Pacific Staffing is seeking an Accounting Analyst for a Sacramento-based nonprofit organization on a two-month contract. This hybrid role focuses on accurate billing and accounts receivable, supporting the Finance Director and funders while maintaining compliant, well-documented financial records.

The position pays $32-$43/hr (DOE) and requires 4+ years in accounting with emphasis on billing/AR, plus nonprofit or grant-funded experience; strong Excel and QuickBooks skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with emphasis on billing and AR.
• Experience in nonprofit, government-funded, or grant-funded environments preferred.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; QuickBooks experience preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a hybrid environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with funders and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate monthly billing, invoices, claim forms, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain an up-to-date billing tracker and monitor submission status, approvals, and follow-up needs.
• Review billing information for accuracy; research and resolve discrepancies or rejected claims.
• Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and customer balances.
• Post and apply payments; reconcile AR balances and investigate variances.
• Prepare aging reports and support collection activities.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Provide documentation for audits and ensure adherence to accounting policies.
• Identify unusual transactions and communicate issues promptly.
• Maintain organized financial records and ensure confidentiality.
• Support general accounting tasks and special projects as assigned.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong billing and accounts receivable experience, particularly in non profit or grant-funded environments.
