Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced Remote-Centered environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) to join the Accounting Services Bureau.

This Accounting Administrator I (AAI) position serves as the Office Revolving Fund and Travel Unit Supervisor within the Expenditure Section in the Financial and Business Management Division – Accounting Services Bureau. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing all functions of the Unit, establishing policies and procedures related to travel, revolving fund and warrant distribution activities processed by the Department. This position is responsible for monitoring and understanding new state travel rules and guidelines and communicating all travel-related updates to the Department in a timely manner. This position is responsible for managing staff handling office revolving fund and travel functions while assisting the Expenditure Section Chief in developing and implementing the Department’s travel, revolving fund and warrant distribution control guidelines.

As a Unit Supervisor and frontline leader in State government, the AAI is responsible for developing and inspiring the team to deliver great results for Californians and California Department of Insurance. The AAI must set a clear direction for daily operations by setting priorities, organizing work, monitoring process, and ensuring staff have the tools and guidance needed to meet the Unit’s goals; build collaborative relationships and foster an inclusive environment for consensus-building and decision-making; coach, guide, train, instruct, and develop team members; empower staff through a sense of shared ownership and decision-making; create an open and transparent environment for the exchange of information; foster a team environment through the support and recognition of team members; promote customer service and accountability, and motivate loyalty to the Department’s mission and commitment to drive continuous improvement for better results. To lead effectively the AAI must demonstrate personal credibility through authenticity, confidence, consistency, courage, decisiveness, generosity, honesty, integrity, and good judgment.

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386. PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits.
