Job summary

Meta Reality Labs is hiring an Accountant to own cost and inventory accounting for its consumer hardware business. You will lead recurring close, apply US GAAP, and ensure strong internal controls while partnering with Engineering and Operations to align ledger data with supply chain realities.

You’ll champion AI-enabled accounting solutions, automate reconciliations, and support audits. A CPA or active pursuit is preferred, with experience in tech or Big 4 environments advantageous.

Our Hardware Accounting team owns the numbers behind those products: how we value inventory, account for product cost, recognize returns, and stand behind every figure we report.We’re hiring an Accountant to join that team, with a particular focus on cost and inventory accounting. You’ll own recurring close deliverables for our consumer hardware business, apply U.S. GAAP to real product economics, and operate within a strong internal control environment. It’s a role with genuine scope early on: hardware accounting sits at the intersection of Finance, Engineering, and Operations, so you’ll spend as much time with cross-functional partners understanding what’s actually happening in the supply chain as you will in the ledger.We’re also rebuilding how this work gets done. We expect our accountants to look at a manual process and ask whether it needs to exist — then use AI and automation tooling to fix it.Accountant, Reality Labs Responsibilities:Champion the adoption of AI tools and automation frameworks to streamline repetitive tasks, reduce manual effort, and strengthen the control environmentPartner with Engineering and other cross-functional teams to implement and optimise AI-enabled accounting solutions — automated reconciliations, intelligent data extraction, and anomaly detectionSupport the operational activities that bring new products to marketSupport global accounting processes and controls, with a particular focus on cost and inventory accountingAssist with month-end close, including subledger management, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliationSupport internal and external audit requestsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline3+ years of accounting or finance experience in Big 4, tech, or a similar environmentWorking knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls frameworksDemonstrated ability to identify and implement processes and systems improvementsExposure to — or strong interest in — AI applications in accounting and finance, such as automating manual processes, intelligent data extraction, or predictive analyticsHighly collaborative, with excellent communication skills and the ability to explain an accounting outcome to a non-accounting partner in their own languageSelf-starter with strong attention to detail who can still hold the big pictureEager to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility,C.P.A. or equivalent (or actively pursuing)Preferred Qualifications:Hands-on experience implementing AI or automation tools in accounting workflows, including AI-assisted close processExperience with Oracle Fusion ERP and HyperionExperience in inventory management or cost accountingDemonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologiesIf you’re an accounting professional drawn to the intersection of technology and finance — and to what AI can actually change about how accounting gets done — we’d like to hear from you.
