Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East is seeking an Accountant & Payroll Specialist in Hibbing/Virginia, MN to own key accounting and payroll functions while supporting the company's financial operations. This role emphasizes accuracy and initiative in a stable, long‑term career with competitive compensation.

Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $105,000 per year plus benefits, including health, dental and vision, a 401(k) plan with company match, profit sharing, PTO and disability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA credentials are a plus.
• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial recordkeeping, and payroll practices.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
• Proficiency using accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Professional communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, vendors, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, purchasing, and payroll accounting.
• Process biweekly payroll accurately while maintaining confidentiality.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor statements, and customer accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Generate financial reports and assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Prepare payroll tax filings and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections as needed.
• Maintain employee payroll records, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Set up customer accounts, prepare invoices, process payments, and maintain vendor records.
• Maintain organized financial records and assist with additional administrative projects as needed.

THE ROLE

You'll be an important part of the company's financial operations, managing responsibilities across accounting, payroll, reporting, reconciliations, and financial administration. This position is ideal for someone who can see the big picture while maintaining a high level of accuracy in the details.
