Job summary

Cygnus Manufacturing Company in Saxonburg, PA is hiring an Accountant & Payroll Administrator to run end-to-end payroll, manage AR, and support accounting operations. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and collaboration with management.

You will prepare journal entries, assist with audits, and help close monthly accounts in a small-to-midsize manufacturing environment. Remote work not indicated.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll and accounting experience in manufacturing or similar setting.
• Experience with payroll processing, A/P and A/R, and monthly close.
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and ERP systems.

As an Accountant and Payroll Administrator at CMC, you will support both our accounting and payroll functions by administering payroll, managing accounts receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, completing reconciliations and reporting, and supporting audits and other accounting activities. This role works closely with employees, management, and other members of our administrative team to help ensure accurate, timely, and organized payroll and financial operations.

Job Duties

• Administer the entire payroll process from new hire through termination
• Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of employee payroll files
• Manage accounts receivable, including issuing invoices and credits and applying payments
• Assist with cash management and petty cash
• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries
• Complete weekly and monthly account reports and other financial reporting as needed
• Analyze transactions and reconcile journals, ledgers, bank accounts, and other accounts
• Provide data and support for quarterly bank audits and annual audits
• Code invoices for accounts payable as needed
• Assist with analysis and interpretation of accounting records for management
• Prepare annual 1099 reporting and maintain quarterly LST tax filings
• Maintain vendor and customer information as needed
• Complete monthly reconciliations, including bank accounts and personal tools
• Confirm packing slips and handle returns using the M2M RMA system
• Maintain prepaid expense spreadsheets and amortization schedules
• Maintain accurate accounting files and supporting documentation
• Perform special reporting and analysis for managers as needed
• Adhere to Employee responsibilities outlined in Cygnus’ Health & Safety Policy

Additional Skills & Responsibilities

• Associate degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly as part of a small team at a small to midsize business, is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now payroll system is required
• Thorough understanding of bookkeeping procedures and monthly close
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general internet use, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel, including the use of basic formulas
• Familiarity with an ERP software system, such as Made2Manage, is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
• Good analytical skills and the ability to work independently
• Ability to work overtime as business needs require
• Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment, including hot, cold, and/or noisy areas
