Job summary

Cygnus Manufacturing Company, Saxonburg, PA, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our precision machining team. You will troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install CNC machining equipment to maximize reliability and minimize downtime in a modern, climate-controlled shop.

We value hands-on problem solving, strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work overtime as needed. A 2-year degree or higher in EET/MET plus 5+ years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate Degree in EET or MET preferred.
• Possess proficiency with diagnostic equipment and reading electrical/electronic schematics.
• CNC and G-code knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install CNC and other manufacturing equipment.
• Visually inspect machines to locate causes of malfunctions.
• Diagnose electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and thermal problems.
• Dismantle machines to access problem areas and replace worn parts.
• Test operation after repairs and document history in the system.
• Schedule repairs and prioritize by production demands.
• Adhere to safety policies and workplace procedures.

Job Duties

• Responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and installation of CNC and other manufacturing production equipment
• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions;
• Diagnoses electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and thermal machinery problems;
• Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area;
• Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems;
• Removes and replaces worn or defective parts and realigns and adjusts components of machines;
• Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair;
• Procures repair parts and maintains inventory levels according to machinery breakdown histories;
• Repairs broken parts and performs all repairs in an efficient, safe and timely manner according to company policies;
• Sets priorities and schedules machine repairs and maintenance according to production/customer demands;
• Documents repairs/preventative maintenance history via software and database;
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor;
• Adhere to Employee’s responsibilities outlined in Cygnus’ Health & Safety Policy.

Additional Skills & Responsibilities

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Associate Degree in EET or MET, minimum 5 years’ experience preferred;
• Possess proficiency with all diagnostic equipment, blueprint reading, electrical/electronic schematic interpretation, and pneumatic and thermal diagram understand;
• Must possess computer operation and troubleshooting skills;
• CNC and G code knowledge preferred;Good communication and organization skills;
• Ability to work well with others;
• Must be available to work as much overtime as needed;
• Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment (including hot, cold and/or noisy areas);
• Frequent hand to finger, handle, feel objects & tools, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking and hearing;
