Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Austin, TX seeks an Accountant IV for AR SSLC/SH to perform complex accounting duties across grants and revenue streams. You will audit financial documents, reconcile accounts across ARTS, CAPPS, and USAS, and support AR management with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

You will travel within Texas up to 30% for audits and collaborate with SSLC/SH teams, ensuring financial integrity and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, auditing, or budgeting.
• Experience with automated accounting systems and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Review the SSLC/SH Rent revenue transactions in ARTS, CAPPS, and Payroll monthly and reconcile balances.
• Travel across the State of Texas to conduct audits (up to 30%).
• Assist AR management and act as Subject Matter Expert for AR SSLC/SH team.
• Prepare annual Petty Cash certification and review bank reconciliations.
