Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Austin seeks an Accounts Payable Accountant III to oversee complex voucher processing and ensure accurate postings within CAPPS Financials.

The role requires thorough knowledge of state accounting rules, ability to coordinate posting schedules, and collaboration with vendors and agency staff to process payments and refunds. Telework may be available and travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or related field is generally preferred.
• One year of accounting-level work experience may be substituted for one year of education on a year-for-year basis up to four years.
• Experience with government accounting systems and controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, audit, data enter, and post encumbered and unencumbered vouchers.
• Coordinate daily payment voucher posting schedules and ensure proper documentation and authorization for every voucher.
• Audit and ensure accurate entry of vouchers into CAPPS Financials and reconciliation of vouchers and ETVs.
• Work with vendors, programs, and agency staff to process AP transactions, corrections, and refunds; provide assistance as needed.
• Assist management to process accounts payable and refunds and handle inquiries and problem resolution.
