Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Accountant III to join our finance team. You will perform advanced accounting responsibilities, support financial reporting, account analysis, reconciliations, and compliance activities, and collaborate with stakeholders to enable sound financial decisions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 5+ years of accounting experience, with preference for manufacturing or industrial environments and CPA progress toward

Job Description:

The Accountant III performs advanced accounting responsibilities and provides experienced support for financial reporting, account analysis, reconciliations, and compliance activities. This role contributes to departmental objectives by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, identifying process improvements, and resolving complex accounting issues. The position works independently on a broad range of accounting functions and serves as a resource to less experienced team members. The Accountant III partners with business stakeholders to support financial decision-making, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Duties:

• Prepare, review, and analyze complex accounting transactions and journal entries to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Lead account reconciliation activities, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare financial analyses, reports, and schedules used to support business decisions and compliance requirements.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and improvement of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, analysis, and responses to inquiries.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address accounting issues and support organizational objectives.
• Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced accounting staff.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Assist with the implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
• Support audit, compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
• Provide mentoring and day-to-day guidance to less experienced team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
• 5+ years of accounting, finance, or related experience, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

• Preferred:
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Certified Public Accountant designation or progress toward a professional accounting certification.
• Experience supporting complex financial reporting, audit activities, and accounting process improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting practices, and account reconciliation processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial information.
• Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend practical solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in resolving accounting issues.
• Ability to provide guidance and support to less experienced accounting staff.

• Frequent use of a computer and related office equipment.
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods while reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting financial information.

• Occasional lifting or carrying of files, documents, or office materials up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

• Perform all tasks on-site in a professional office environment.
• Work is primarily sedentary with regular use of office equipment.
• Regular interaction and collaboration with accounting, finance, operational, and business team members.
• No routine exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous contaminants, moving mechanical parts, elevated work locations, or excessive noise levels.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures to maintain a safe and professional work environment.
