Job summary

Atmos Energy Corporation is seeking an accountant to support monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting in a Dallas-area office. You will prepare, analyze and distribute schedules and financial reports, ensuring GAAP and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 2 years of accounting experience (or GED with 5 years). Strong communication and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• 2 years of related accounting experience.
• Alternatively, 5 years of related accounting experience with a GED.
• Ability to communicate with internal/external customers in writing and verbally.
• Ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages, and basic statistics.
• Proficiency with office software to create documents, reports, graphics.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly accounting journal entries.
• Prepares monthly account reconciliations.
• Performs processes during the monthly close cycle.
• Creates, updates, reviews, investigates and distributes schedules and financial reports pertaining to various phases of accounting functions.
• Prepares, analyzes and verifies accounting reports for regulatory filings and audits.
• Ensures transactions are GAAP, FERC, SOX compliant and properly supported.
• Provides internal and external customer support when needed.
