Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Finance Department is seeking an Accountant II to join a dynamic government accounting team. You will prepare VDOT reimbursement packages and ensure expenditures fall within program scopes, while recording revenues on the general ledger.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3 years of related experience; master’s degree is preferred. A hybrid remote work schedule is available along with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 3 years of accounting experience, or 7 years equivalent.
• Experience in state/local government accounting and construction contracts preferred.
• Master’s degree in Accounting preferred.

This position will be responsible for managing and recording VDOT revenues on the general ledger to ensure all revenue accruals are recorded and the project revenues are tracked with program agreements, in addition to other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting with a State or local government and experience with construction contracts.
