Job Summary
The person selected for this position will assist the Biosystems Engineering department head, faculty, and staff in managing all financial aspects of the department in a cost effective manner.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage day-to-day financial operations of the department and advise department head and faculty on a variety of financial matters related to teaching, research, extension, and outreach; assist the department head with strategic planning for departmental budgets and financial matters; assist faculty with development of extramural funding proposal budgets and assist faculty and administrators with financial management and review of externally-funded contracts and grants; prepare, edit, review, and publish financial statements/documents and reports including forecasts, budgets, budget compliance, and analysis of accounts with multi-users; audit/review financial records; monitor salaries/wages to ensure compliance with budgets and that accounts are being properly expended; serve as Liaison between biosystems engineering department and the University Business Office/other units; prepare Collection Reports, Journal Vouchers, Travel vouchers, and Vendor Vouchers for multiple users; review and update rates for service centers; assist the Contracts & Grants Specialists for the College of Agriculture and the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station; and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Level I: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree plus a CPA with no experience.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree plus a CPA plus 2 years of experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent
Level III : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or a similar degree plus a CPA plus 4 years of experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
