Job summary

AAA Mountain West Group in Walnut Creek, CA is seeking an Accountant to manage general ledger data, oversee daily transaction flows in Workday ERP, and drive month-end close processes with accurate journal entries and reconciliations.

The role requires GAAP knowledge and 5+ years of related experience; CPA is preferred. This hybrid position offers competitive pay and benefits including tuition reimbursement and a wellness program.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field. Minimum of 5 years of related experience or 3 years and a Master’s degree, or 9 years of related experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred Qualifications: Active CPA license or significant progress toward certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger (GL) Maintenance – Independently manages the posting and verification of financial data, leading trial balance reviews and continuous close readiness while resolving diverse, complex issues.
• System Oversight – Oversees daily automated transaction flows, adapting existing approaches to resolve sophisticated exceptions and data integrity issues within the Workday ERP.
• Month-End Execution – Drives full-cycle month-end closing activities, independently devising solutions and completing complex journal entries, accruals, and comprehensive bank reconciliations.
• Asset Management – Fully maintains the fixed asset ledger, using judgment to evaluate and execute depreciation and disposal strategies in strict accordance with GAAP.
• Audit Support – Evaluates financial documents based on limited precedent, ensuring comprehensive readiness, accuracy, and strategic compliance for internal and external audit reviews.
• Collaboration – Enhances relationships and networks with senior partners, adapting communication styles to advise and persuade others on difficult financial reconciliation matters.

JOB SUMMARY

Advanced proficiency in Workday ERP, complex variance analysis, and sophisticated problem‑solving tools.

Evaluates, interprets, and uses independent judgment to select the right course of action for diverse scope problems.
