Job summary

AAA Mountain West Group is seeking an Accountant to manage GL, close processes, and asset accounting from their Walnut Creek, CA office. The role requires strong GAAP knowledge and extensive Workday ERP experience.

You will perform full-cycle month-end close, handle journal entries, and assist with audits. A CPA or progress toward certification is preferred, with a hybrid work setup in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience or 3 years and a Master's degree, or 9 years of related experience without a Bachelor's degree.
• Active CPA license or significant progress toward certification is preferred.
• Complete knowledge and full understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger (GL) maintenance and trial balance reviews.
• Oversee daily automated transaction flows in Workday ERP.
• Drive full-cycle month-end closing activities and journal entries.
• Maintain fixed asset ledger and depreciation/disposal per GAAP.
• Support internal/external audits with prepared documentation.
• Collaborate with senior partners on reconciliation matters.

Job Summary

Our Accountant will be responsible for the following essential functions.

Essential Functions

General Ledger (GL) Maintenance

• Independently manages the posting and verification of financial data, leading trial balance reviews and continuous close readiness while resolving diverse, complex issues.

System Oversight

• Oversees daily automated transaction flows, adapting existing approaches to resolve sophisticated exceptions and data integrity issues within the Workday ERP.

Month-End Execution

• Drives full-cycle month-end closing activities, independently devising solutions and completing complex journal entries, accruals, and comprehensive bank reconciliations.

Asset Management

• Fully maintains the fixed asset ledger, using judgment to evaluate and execute depreciation and disposal strategies in strict accordance with GAAP.

Audit Support

• Evaluates financial documents based on limited precedent, ensuring comprehensive readiness, accuracy, and strategic compliance for internal and external audit reviews.

Collaboration

• Enhances relationships and networks with senior partners, adapting communication styles to advise and persuade others on difficult financial reconciliation matters.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Complete knowledge and full understanding of GAAP, accounting principles, and specialized practices within the discipline.
• Advanced proficiency in Workday ERP, complex variance analysis, and sophisticated problem-solving tools.
• Evaluates, interprets, and uses independent judgment to select the right course of action for diverse scope problems.
