Job summary

Habersham Electric Membership Corporation seeks an Accountant to handle general accounting, ledger reconciliations, and financial statement preparation for the cooperative and subsidiaries.

You will assist with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, providing critical financial insights to management. Strong Excel/MS Office skills and ability to work with confidential data are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Experience is not required.
• For degrees other than Accounting, three years of Accounting experience with demonstrated proficiency is required.
• Strong computer skills including Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to prioritize and plan complex tasks and maintain confidentiality.
• May be required to work additional hours to close out financials or provide reports.

Responsibilities

• Performs general accounting activities, including preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements.
• Prepares, records, examines, and analyzes accounting records and reports for accuracy and conformance to standards.
• Assists with forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget.
• Generates financial reports for the Board and leadership on a regular basis.
• Maintains budget controls and distributes budgets monthly to managers.
• Provides cash management and bank reconciliations as needed.
