Job summary

Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives is seeking an Accountant who will collaborate cross-functionally across departments to support month-end close processes, maintain general ledger integrity, and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role includes supporting Buckeye Power and related entities, preparing reconciliations and journal entries, and assisting with audits and reporting.

Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, plus knowledge of accounting principles, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Two years of accounting experience desired.
• Must have working knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Must be proficient in the use of personal computer applications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and standard enterprise accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Support Buckeye Power and related companies with general accounting functions.
• Prepare various monthly reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries for PACs and Community Foundation.
• Coordinate and ensure data accuracy to prepare financial statements for PACs and Community Foundation.
• Maintain and update policies and procedures as needed.
• Provide support with internal operational audits of Cardinal Operating Company, Buckeye Power, Inc. and related companies.
• Prepare schedules, analyses, and answers audit inquiries for annual audits.
• Work with the Senior Accounting – Billing and software developers on programs that gather data and produce the bill.
• Serve as operational backup across key accounting functions (A/P, A/R, merchant processing, petty cash).
• Contribute to monthly wholesale power billing data integrity with Market Operations and providers.
• Propose process improvements and provide testing, documentation and support during software implementations.
