Qualifications

Kentucky Electric Cooperatives is currently seeking a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant supports the organization by performing assigned tasks in several areas of accounting. This role will be responsible for General Ledger accounting and reporting as well as supporting the team in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This role will have a broad range of exposure to many areas of the business including but not limited to accruals, account reconciliations, year-end audit support, financial reporting, sales tax reporting, accounts payable processing and various accounts receivable functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries.
• Create financial reporting packages for use by Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
• Reconciles and analyzes general ledger accounts monthly.
• Developsfinancialreporting utilizing report writing tools within the ERP and Business Intelligence tools.
• Review and process payments for select Accounts Payable and Sales Tax accounts.
• Reviews and ensures proper accounting for inventory adjustments.
• Evaluates new Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP)pronouncements and works with leadership to implement effectively.
• Prepares documentation for and supports the year-end audit engagement.
• Collaborates with all levels of the organization staff as well as builds working relationships with vendors and customers.
• Works with Accounts Receivable to apply cash and to evaluate and process credits.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Experience–2years of experience in an accounting and/or finance department with experience related to GAAP preferred
• Experience in a multi-entity environment is preferred.
• Innovative and works well in a data driven environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
