selfpublishing.com is hiring an Accountant in Austin, TX to manage full-cycle bookkeeping, AR/AP, and personal finances for the CEO. You will reconcile books, maintain confidentiality, and provide financial insights to guide strategic decisions.

The role requires 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, high accuracy, and strong communication. On-site work with a fast-growing publishing mission, supporting thousands of authors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
• Full cycle bookkeeping and AR/AP handling
• Full books reconciliation
• High volume processing experience
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, Wave, FreshBooks or similar
• Commitment to confidentiality and integrity
• Strong multitasking and prioritization
• Solid understanding of accounting principles
• Attention to detail (spotting small discrepancies)
• Willingness to learn and grow

Responsibilities

• Close the books with 95%+ accuracy at least 3 days before monthly financials meeting
• Execute accounting tasks on time, every time
• Offer strategic financial insights that influence key decisions
• Handle corporate and personal transactions efficiently
• Own the CEO’s personal financial management with discretion

Salary - $55,000 to $75,000 per year (final amount will be dependent on experience)

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of Bookkeeping experience -
• Not only AR/AP but Full Cycle Bookkeeping
• Full Books Reconciliation
• High volume processing experience
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop), Xero, Zoho Books, Wave, FreshBooks, or similar
• A commitment to confidentiality and integrity
• Master multitasker who can prioritize like a pro
• Solid grasp of accounting and corporate finance principles
• Sharp eye for details (you spot the $0.02 discrepancy no one else does)
• You enjoy leveling up - continuous learning is your thing

Bonus Points (Nice to Haves)

• 2+ years of Accounting
• 1+ year analysis/budgeting
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Experience with financial forecasting and statistical analysis
