Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Main Job Board is seeking an accounting professional to prepare financial statements, consolidations, and reports, and to assist with forecasts and budgets. The role involves closing duties, journal entries, GL reconciliation, and variance analysis across multiple accounts.

You will work with regional teams, ensure internal controls, support audits, and contribute to process improvements. A Bachelor’s in Accounting is preferred and 1–3 years of related experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; other related degrees considered.
• 1–3 years of related accounting experience is a plus.
• Railroad experience not required.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in closing and reporting: journal entries, GL reconciliations, variance analysis.
• Coordinate with departments and regional personnel for financial data.
• Analyze reports related to reserves, assets, and expenditures.
• Prepare balance sheet analyses and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits within the function.
• Contribute to team efforts and special projects as needed.
• Represent the function in special projects and assignments.
• Assist with other projects and duties as required.
