Job Summary:

Since 1997, AlphaStaff has delivered HR outsourcing solutions to thousands of small and medium-sized businesses across the country, as well as some large organizations. We are searching for a hands-on, detail-oriented Accountant to support a fast-scaling group of beauty companies which sell both direct to consumer and to major retailers. This role is fully remote with periodic in-person meetings near Sunrise/Weston, FL. You’ll manage a high-volume, largely manual finance environment (i.e., currently only one automated Shopify-to-NetSuite interface), no IT team, and evolving processes. The right candidate will thrive with autonomy, communicate proactively, and be eager to grow into more responsibility.

About You: You’re a self-motivated and resourceful accountant who thrives in lean environments. You thrive in lean, dynamic environments where you take initiative, learn on the fly and ask the right questions. You don’t need micromanagement – you own your deliverables, speak up when you’re stuck, and respect confidentiality. You enjoy mastering manual journal entries, reconciliations and cut-offs as much as variance analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries throughout the month.
• Assist with monthly and year-end close: reconciliations, cut-off accruals and financial statement review.
• Conduct variance analysis and highlight missing entries or necessary accruals.
• Pull and reconcile high-volume transactions using specialized software.
• Generate and manage sales tax filings across 45+ jurisdictions via Avalara.
• Extract reports from Shopify, TikTok, 3PLs, and other platforms.
• Assist with system and process improvements in a manual-heavy environment.
• Support external NetSuite and IT consultants with system issues and data requests.
• Participate in audit reviews: support cut-off testing, site visits and documentation.
• Collaborate on process improvements and policy drafting (expense, closing schedules).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years (Staff) or 5+ years (Senior) of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) required.
• NetSuite experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with e-commerce, DTC or fast-paced industries a plus.
• Proven ability to work independently and communicate proactively in a remote setting.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to handle shifting priorities.
• Startup or small company experience strongly preferred.
