Performs professional level work of moderate difficulty requiring the application of accounting theory and principles. Characteristic duties: develop methods of recording fiscal transactions, allocate funds, update and maintain accountingsystems, independently prepare financial statements/reports/cost analyses, anddevelop and present budgets and other financial information for review. Othermajor duties: all functions of compensation accounting including assuring timelyprocessing of payrolls, distribution of checks, preparing federal/state tax reporting,fringe benefits and premium conversion. May supervise or lead fiscalparaprofessionals and/or other support personnel.
The Accountant position within the Commissioners Office plays a central role in ensuring the financial integrity, transparency, and operational efficiency of the agency. This position supports core financial functions- such as reconciliations, reporting, compliance, and budget monitoring while serving as a trusted resource to leadership and program teams across the department.
