Job description

Relay is the Intelligent System of Action for the physical economy. While the digital revolution has often left the deskless workforce behind, we are closing that gap by transforming analog frontline operations into a data-rich, AI-powered ecosystem. We aren't just selling radios, we’re building the digital foundation for the 80% of the global workforce that doesn't work at a desk.

Why Join Relay?

  • A Proven Winner: Join a hyper-growth company trusted by over 10% of the Fortune 500, continuing to move upmarket with massive impact.
  • High Value, High Impact: With 47% of our revenue from $100K+ ARR customers and 135% Net Revenue Retention (NRR), you'll be joining a company rooted in value creation.
  • Market-Leading Innovation: The Relay platform captures 1 billion new data points weekly and features award-winning AI tools like TeamTranslate™, with 500% YoY growth.
  • World-Class Leadership: Our stellar leadership team is built to help us scale toward our next major milestones.
  • The Relay Culture: We’re dedicated to helping you do the best work of your life (BWIML), investing in your growth through L.I.T., living our CHASE values, and learning from incredibly talented, supportive teammates who make the work (and the wins) better every day.

Now, here’s what we’re building, and where you come in.

  • Cash Visibility & Liquidity Stewardship — Master the daily beat of company cash flow. Perform bank reconciliations in NetSuite, partnering with the billing team to ensure customer payments are properly applied before reconciliation — maintaining clean records and providing leadership with crisp, real-time insights into net cash position and working capital.
  • Expense Platform & Policy Leadership — Own the administration of Relay’s modern expense (Navan) and corporate card platform (Brex). Streamline employee onboarding and offboarding workflows, curate frictionless spending policies, and leverage transaction data to monitor policy adherence, ensure consistent application of spending policies, identify spending trends, and surface any unusual or out-of-policy activity.
  • Accounting Liaison to FP&A and People Services — Serve as the liaison between Accounting, FP&A, and People Services, acting as the steward of all payroll-related activity in NetSuite. Partner closely with People Services to ensure payroll data is reflected accurately and in a timely manner in NetSuite, then work with FP&A to translate that data into departmental headcount spend, ensuring proper allocation to the right expense categories and cost centers. This cross-functional role is critical to delivering reliable visibility into people costs across the organization.

Financial Reporting & Ledger Maintenance

  • Account Ownership & Month-End Close: Own the full lifecycle of assigned balance sheet accounts — preparing and recording journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and performing bank reconciliations — to ensure a timely and accurate month-end close and reliable financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • People Services Collaboration: Partner closely with the People Services team to ensure payroll transactions are fed into NetSuite accurately and on time. This cross-functional relationship is critical to maintaining clean payroll-related GL records and ensuring the financial statements accurately reflect people costs across the organization.
  • FP&A Partnership & OpEx Allocation: Collaborate with the FP&A team to ensure operating expenses are accurately allocated and reported by department across the company’s financial statement categories — G&A, Sales & Marketing, and R&D. Support the integrity of management reporting by ensuring transactions are coded to the correct cost center and OpEx classification, enabling leadership to make informed decisions on spend by function.
  • Billing Department Collaboration: Partner closely with the billing department to ensure timely, accurate application of customer payments, supporting financial integrity and real-time cash visibility. This cross-functional relationship is critical to maintaining clean accounts receivable records and providing leadership with a reliable view of the company’s cash position.
  • Audit Support: Lead the fulfillment of internal and external audit requests for assigned areas, providing well-documented workpapers and timely support to auditors.

T&E Platform and Policy Administration

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Relay’s corporate T&E card program and Navan platform, acting as the day-to-day business partner for employees on expense transactions and policy compliance. Partner directly with business stakeholders to administer card policy, manage card issuance and limit adjustments, and oversee monthly transaction approvals — continuously optimizing Navan to ensure it remains a best-in-class financial tool that delivers a high-satisfaction employee experience.

Systems & Process Optimization

  • Application Integration: Collaborate with the Accounting and IT teams to optimize the integration of third-party applications (expense management, payroll, close automation) with our NetSuite ERP to drive efficiency and data integrity.
  • AI & Automation Adoption: Comfortable learning and thoughtfully leveraging AI and automation tools to improve productivity, accuracy, and efficiency — bringing a curious, proactive mindset to identifying where emerging technology can reduce manual effort and elevate the quality of financial work.
  • Process Optimization: Proactively identify, recommend, and implement internal process and reporting improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls within your designated accounts.

Required Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a highly related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience (internship experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting setting is a plus).
  • Technical Standards: Strong foundational understanding of US GAAP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA: Progress toward Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a strong plus
  • ERP Experience: Direct experience navigating and utilizing NetSuite.
  • Payroll Systems: Prior experience with payroll system reporting.
  • Tools: Experience working with financial close automation platforms (e.g., FloQast, Numeric, NetClose) and modern T&E platforms; familiarity with Navan is a strong plus.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Skills: High attention to detail with a knack for identifying variances and troubleshooting data mismatches.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate across departments and explain financial requirements to non-finance team members.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, tech-forward environment with evolving automated workflows.
  • Value-Added: Ability to uphold and exemplify Relay’s core values
