Job summary

Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation (PCBC) seeks an Accountant to manage day‑to‑day financial transactions, lead the accounts payable/receivable, and support month‑end close, audits and grant reporting. The role also provides admin support to the Executive Management Team in a mission‑driven organization.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree, and proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

  • Record and maintain day‑to‑day financial transactions.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including weekly accounts payable processing.
  • Record cash receipts and make bank deposits.
  • Process general ledger transactions and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile credit card purchases to monthly statements.
  • Maintain the petty cash fund.
  • Assist with the timely and accurate month‑end financial close.
  • Prepare financial and departmental reports as needed.
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparation and coordination.
  • Support the VP in maintaining compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Gather and report historical financial data to support budget planning.
  • Assist with preparation of grant budgets and grant reporting.
  • Work with departments across PCBC to ensure revenue is properly identified and recorded.
  • Prepare 1099s and other required financial forms.
  • Assist with tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment as authorized.
  • Monitor office supply levels and coordinate reordering.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to management as needed.
  • Help improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial and administrative processes.

Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation (PCBC), home of WESA and WYEP, is looking for an Accountant to join our team and help ensure the financial accuracy, integrity and efficiency that allow our stations to do their best work for the community.

This is a hands‑on accounting role for someone who is detail‑oriented, organized and service‑minded and who takes pride in getting the numbers right. The Accountant will manage a range of day‑to‑day accounting functions, contribute to month‑end close and financial reporting, support audits and grant reporting, and work closely with colleagues across the organization.

This role also provides administrative support to the Executive Management Team, making this an opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to play an important role in the day‑to‑day operations of a mission‑driven organization.

What You’ll Do
Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Record and maintain accurate day‑to‑day financial transactions.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including weekly accounts payable processing.

Work Environment

This position is based in our Pittsburgh office. Standard business hours are 9:00-5:00 Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work to support organizational events and Board meetings.

We provide competitive salaries in an affordable city. The minimum compensation for this position is $55,000, commensurate with experience and ability.
