U-Haul is seeking an accounting professional in Phoenix, AZ to perform routine month-end close activities and prepare GAAP-compliant journal entries. The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting and 2–3 years of public accounting experience, with strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

The position emphasizes accurate financial analysis, process documentation, and collaboration with teams during quarterly reporting periods. Onsite work is expected at the Phoenix campus.

Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

• Complete routine month-end close procedures within prescribed timeframes in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare monthly recurring and general accounting journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain balance sheet accounts and perform monthly account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial statement trends and explain fluctuations.
• Create documentation of processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• 2-3 years of relevant work experience in public accounting preferred
• Strong oral and written communication, good listening skills, and excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure
• Ability to balance time during busy quarterly/annual reporting season
• Attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel
• Knowledge and experience with SAP (general ledger) are a plus

Since 1945, U-Haul has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households. Like many other successful ventures, the concept for U-Haul was generated out of need. After World War II, there existed the widespread need for do-it-yourself moving equipment that would be available on a one-way, nationwide basis. U-Haul co-founders L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, recognized that need and acted upon it. Their visionary approach spread the cost of ownership among many users, facilitating the mobility of the populations of the U.S. and Canada. The covered wagon of the pioneers morphed into orange U-Haul trailers. In the process, an industry was born.
