Job summary

System One in Pittsburgh is seeking an Accountant to support the full month-end close cycle and keep accurate financial records. The role focuses on reconciliations, journal entries, and customer payment applications, with a 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule on-site.

The position requires a solid GL background, proficiency in Excel and accounting software, and 2–3 years of relevant experience. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with comprehensive health benefits and 401(k) participation.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of General Ledger accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and accounting software.
• Associate's degree in accounting or a related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the full month-end close cycle, covering trial balances, adjustments, and final postings.
• Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany balances, and other key accounts each month.
• Complete income statement and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, for month-end and year-end close.
• Apply incoming customer payments and research and resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare checks for remote bank deposit.
• Follow up with customers on the status of past due balances.
• Produce and distribute weekly accounts receivable reports to management.
• Assist with sales and use tax returns and prepare personal property tax filings.
• Track vendor Certificates of Insurance and review exceptions to coverage limits.
• Handle additional accounting duties as needed.
