Job summary

Steadfast Employment in Houma, LA is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit. The role focuses on maintaining accurate records, ensuring funding compliance, and providing financial information for decision-making.

You will manage the general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, monthly close, and grant reporting; assist with budgets and audits; and collaborate with leadership to optimize resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum of two years of accounting experience preferred.
• Nonprofit accounting and grant management experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports for leadership review.
• Monitor grant expenditures, funding restrictions, and cost allocations to ensure compliance with grant requirements.

• Maintain accurate financial records and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership to support financial planning and resource management.
