Mississippi Power, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking an experienced accounting professional to ensure timely and accurate reporting to management, investors, and regulators. You will prepare, review, and analyze monthly entries and financial statements, and respond to regulatory data requests.
You will reconcile balances to the general ledger, monitor internal controls, and serve as SME for assigned areas, applying GAAP knowledge and strong analytical skills in a team environment on the
Ensure timely and accurate preparation and reporting of accounting information to management, investors, and regulatory bodies. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly entries, financial statements and respond to regulatory data request, cost of service studies and associated data requests. Reconcile account balances to the general ledger. Monitor accounting information and system of internal controls to ensure the Company's accounting practices comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned areas that includes resolution of accounting control & process issues and application of accounting & system knowledge in support of Company personnel.
