Job summary

Fibersmith in Columbia, MO is seeking a full-time Accountant to own day-to-day financial operations and deliver accurate reporting. You’ll help leadership understand the numbers behind the business and drive reliable processes.

This role touches AP/AR, GL activity, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and multi-entity accounting. You’ll improve controls and support growth as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• CPA is a plus but not required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and close processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Clear communication and a professional, team-focused approach.
• Multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Maintaining general ledger activity and supporting month-end and year-end close.
• Preparing financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other management reporting.
• Reviewing transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company processes.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts.
• Assisting with audits, documentation, and GAAP compliance.
• Reconciling accounts and researching discrepancies.
• Helping leadership understand financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Recommending process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and visibility.
• Supporting other accounting and finance tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Do
