Spectrum Accounting, LLC in Springfield, Missouri is seeking a Senior Accountant who enjoys working directly with small business owners and growing into a leadership role. This full-time, in-office position focuses on long-term monthly accounting relationships, financial insight, and tax services beyond seasonal work.

You will own client work, communicate confidently, onboard new clients, mentor colleagues, and develop toward an Accounting Manager position as the firm expands.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple client accounts independently.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• CPA, EA, or pursuing either credential welcomed.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online; UltraTax a plus.

• Prepare individual and business tax returns as experience allows; build tax prep and planning skills with support from reviewers and leadership.

About the Position

Spectrum Accounting is seeking a Senior Accountant who enjoys working directly with small business owners and wants to grow into a leadership role. Our work centers on long term monthly accounting relationships, financial insight, and tax services for our clients, not just seasonal tax preparation. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of client work, communicate confidently, and develop toward an Accounting Manager position as our firm grows.

This is a full time, primarily in office position at our Springfield, Missouri location. This is not a remote or regularly scheduled hybrid position.

What You Will Do

• Manage recurring accounting work for assigned clients, including reconciliations, month end close, financial statements, and identifying issues that need attention.
• Prepare individual and business tax returns as experience allows; build tax preparation and planning skills with support from experienced reviewers and firm leadership.
• Communicate directly with clients, request information, explain financial results, and participate in client meetings.
• Help onboard new clients, improve accounting processes, and coordinate with other team members.
• Mentor less experienced employees as you develop and help improve workflows through technology and automation.

What We Are Looking For

• Approximately 2-4 years of accounting experience preferred; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client accounts, work independently, and review financial information for accuracy and completeness.
• Strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
• Comfortable communicating with clients and explaining accounting matters in plain language.
• Experience preparing tax returns is preferred, but candidates with strong accounting backgrounds and a genuine interest in learning tax are encouraged to apply.
• Accounting degree required. CPA, EA, or interest in pursuing either credential is welcomed.
• QuickBooks Online experience preferred; UltraTax experience is a plus.
• Interest in taking ownership of projects, mentoring others, and developing toward management.
