Job summary

Staffmark in Bastrop, LA is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage full accounting records, close books, and ensure accuracy beyond A/R and A/P.The role requires an associate degree, 1–2 years bookkeeping, proficiency in QuickBooks/Xero, and strong Excel skills. Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
• 1–2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a CPA firm.
• Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and basic financial principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial records, ledgers, and journals.
• Assist in posting transactions to appropriate accounts in accounting software.
• Reconcile bank statements and client accounts accurately.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Assist with tax preparation and filing during tax season.
• Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents.
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information.
• Support senior accountants and CPAs with audits and financial reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial data.

Pay Rate: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8 AM-5 PM
