Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate job cost records by project and cost code, reviewing AP invoices, payroll, and journal entries to jobs.
• Reconcile job cost detail to the general ledger monthly, and research and correct miscoded costs.
• Record and apply customer payments and cash receipts accurately and on time.
• Monitor AR aging, follow up on past-due balances, and resolve billing questions with Project Managers.
• Track retainage receivable by project and support retainage collection at project closeout.
• Maintain customer records and organized billing and collections documentation.
• Reconcile the AR subledger to the general ledger monthly and resolve variances.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and adjustments with supporting documentation.
• Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations including cash, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Support month-end close checklist and deadlines; assist year-end audits with schedules.
• Assist with process-improvement, automation, systems integration and enhancement projects.

Job description

Our client is searching for a Construction Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Finance team with accounts receivable, job cost accounting, journal entries, and month-end close. This role is responsible for cash application, timely collections follow-up, and clean, well-supported reconciliations that keep project and general ledger balances in agreement. The Staff Accountant will work directly with Project Management, Operations, Project Controls, and the Finance team to make sure costs and receivables are recorded to the correct jobs and cost codes.

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of accounting experience, a strong foundation in job costing and a track record of meeting month-end close deadlines with a high level of accuracy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
• 2-3 years’ experience in accounting

• Preferred having previous data center, or Construction industry experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary Range: 70-85K Base with 10% Bonus
