Tribal Forestry

Hourly Wage: $20.10/Regular/Full-Time
Position provides administrative support to the Tribal Forestry and DNR Administrative Offices. Primary responsibilities include processing purchase orders, travel authorizations, and assisting in completing leave audits. The incumbent is responsible for Tribal Forestry-Service Contract preparation and finalization. This includes assisting the Account Advisor with budgets and grant record keeping. Responsible for daily operations pertaining to purchase orders and supply orders. Assist in training Administrative Archivist in basic functions of sending bid packages and maintaining auditable ready records.
Examples of Work Performed
- Prepares purchase orders, travel authorizations, and payroll action forms for Tribal Forestry.
- Assists with Leave Audits for Tribal Forestry and, as needed, other DNR programs.
- Maintain electronic filing system on Forestry shared drive.
- Maintains Tribal Forestry self-funded accounts by managing revenue generated, account expenditures, and process account receivable invoices.
- Verify GL accounts with Account Manager or Administrative staff.
- Manage Administrative aspects of program contracting agreements such as receive and secure confidential bids, route contract labor service contracts to the Grant and Contracts Office for processing, process service contract labor payments in a timely manner and maintain audit-ready records.
- Place supply orders for Tribal Forestry and DNR Administration.
- Assist with program errands, such as ordering and picking up supplies for meetings and replenishing office supplies.
- Maintain physical and electronic program records in Forestry shared drive including employee list, physical inventory of assets, insurance, contract records, etc.
- Provide monthly narrative of tasks performed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of YN accounting procedures including D365 account software, with the ability to identify vendor payments.
- Knowledge of and comprehension of audit procedures.
- Knowledge of accounting terminology and familiarity with OMB Circulars.
- Knowledge of general accounting theories, principles, practices, and terms.
- Ability to use standard software for word processing and accounting including MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel.
- Ability to become familiar with all tribal procedure manuals and directives of the Yakama Nation including Personnel Policy Manual, Finance Manual, and D365 user guides.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Natural Resources (specifically, Forestry) terminology.
- Ability to track purchase requests from entry to finalization in the D365 accounting software.
- Ability to monitor internal and external deadlines and process documents in a timely manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, maintain confidentiality, and work under stress.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in accounting or related field or working toward obtaining degree.
- Three years successful work experience as a bookkeeper V or equivalent.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
