Job summary

Beacon Media in Warwick, RI is seeking an Advertising Sales Representative to grow our advertiser base and tailor advertising solutions to client budgets. The role requires calling on existing accounts, developing new ones, and collaborating with newsroom and other departments.

The ideal candidate will have commission-based sales experience, strong communication, organizational, and research skills, and be able to work on-site in Warwick with some travel. Immediate opening.

Qualifications

• Experience as a commission-based sales representative; newspaper or digital news org a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with accuracy to meet deadlines.
• Strong research abilities to find best contacts and understand business challenges.
• Adaptable, able to juggle tasks and work under deadlines; team player.
• Experience with Microsoft Office is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Manage a sales territory, calling on existing accounts and developing new ones.
• Collaborate with other departments to support sales initiatives and resolve issues.
• Handle administrative duties—draft proposals, data entry, and file insertion orders.
• Source major accounts and local businesses for advertising opportunities.
• Additional duties as requested by management.

Beacon Media, home of the Warwick Beacon, Cranston Herald, Johnston Sun Rise, and The Reminder, is seeking a sales representative.

The ideal candidate will have two to four years sales experience and is interested in working with clients to tailor advertising solutions that work for their budgets.

Qualifications

• Experience as a commission-based sales representative, a plus if with a newspaper or digital news organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Top-notch organizational skills, with a commitment to accuracy, to meeting weekly newspaper deadlines
• Strong research abilities to find the best contacts and to understand the challenges and opportunities facing businesses
• Adaptable and can juggle multiple tasks and work under deadlinesCollaborate and contribute to a dynamic sales team environment
• Experience with Microsoft office is necessary
• Base salary plus commission

• Divide time between reporting in person daily to the newsroom based in Warwick, Rhode Island as well as on the road meeting with accounts
• Team works some evenings and weekends
• Reliable, regular transportation is required

Responsibilities

The advertising sales representative will:

• Manage a sales territory including calling on existing accounts and developing new accounts
• Collaborate with other departments to support sales initiatives and resolve customer issues
• Handle administrative duties related to sales accounts, including drafting proposals, data entry and filing insertion orders, among other duties
• Source major accounts as well as local businesses for advertising opportunities
• Additional duties upon request from management
